Looks good Craig. How did you flange that outer contour? I wanted to build a tipping die for the bead roller but i haven't had to build anything like this yet. It looks very challenging to fabricate. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words guys :D

John I don't have a tipping die for my bead roller, but I would really like one.

I basically marked out the flange area and carefully bent up the lip with vice grips and then
hammer and dollied out the rest. Turned out pretty well me thinks. This will give me a nice bonding surface
for the carbon rear quarter. I'm going to have to re-make my rockers  It turns out one of the angles is a few degrees out. I could make it work, but I wouldn't be happy with it.

Cheers,

Finally I got around to making my rockers version 2.0

The first set turned out okay, but I wasn't happy with one off the bend angles.

I managed to get access to a really nice long sheet metal brake. This way I could bend the rockers
in one go. These are tricky buggers to get just right. Luckily I managed to get a cross section of a factory
urq rocker (thanks Mike) and changed some of the angles from vesion 1.0 and began bending away.

I'm really happy with the results, just need to get time to get them welded in. Now the carbon rear fender sits just the way I wanted it to. :drive:

A few pics.

Cheers,

Craig

You know you and Martin are always welcome to my metal working tools. I'll try and finish up with them very soon so you could keep them for as long as you need. However, if you're in a rush, you can always finish my UrQ shell for me. ;) Like you said, there isn't much sense is us both buying all these tools. Especially since it's not something I normally need.

Some of my favorite wheels ever right there. Good seeing you guys at Carlisle! If I'm honest, I'd comment in here more, but these projects are so complicated I honestly have no idea what I'm looking at most of the time lol. I just can't wrap my mind around how you guys know what the heck to do when building these things.

It's a mix of creativity and mad scientist, honestly... all about trial and error and you start to get a nack for what to do in certain situations.

These crazy (scottish) canadians are a little ahead of me in the creative/mad scientistry, but that's my take :)

Craig, great meeting you this past weekend! Keep up the killer work my man! Look forward to seeing this at Carlisle next year ;) haha

Hey Chris,

Yes I'm super exited on getting those wheels. A big thanks to Tim Mascus on that one. Like Justin said, it just takes time and patience and alot of work. Once you have the parts in front of ,and you wrap your head around how the car was put together, it really isn't all that difficult.

It was nice talking about your 200 build. I hope we have updates soon.

Cheers,

Craig

Awesome build, and nice job lining up those rockers. They look OEM the way you have welded them back in.

Also what is the story with the wheels - do you work for a certain company? Sorry if I missed it in your thread - but I think I spied a set of TH's?!

The wheels were a group buy from Compromotive UK. A huge thanks to Tim Maskus on that one.

Cheers,
