Did you choose an EFR?

Is that a 9180?

Finally found a short window of time to partially get this setup going. I stripped the car of its stock turbo stuff tonight save for the stock water return and oil return. Oil return is pretty frozen up so tomorrow I'll have to either cut the bolts off or see of I can modify the stock oil line flange to work with the EFR's gt oil return flange.

So next time I work on it it will be basically assembly plus sorting out those two issues. And just so I can remind myself tomorrow, I need to pick up a few wastegate and manifold studs from a hardware store. Two oil flange bolts as well. Anyone got the specs on those? Thread pitch and length, etc.? I'm on very limited time here.

I also received some FID 1200s today, picked up the Wagner rs2 Evo manifold, and some r8 coils.

Oh, and I won't have any way to connect the rest of my exhaust until I get back to our farm in PA... I guess I got a little antsy to get this done.

Looks like the wastegate studs are M8X50. Manifold studs are M8X20. Oil flange block bolts are M8X18 Allen bolts. At least that's what VagCat says.

Thank you! I didn't even think to look there. I'm headed out to get them now.

I guess it's been way too long since I've done this level of wrenching. My entire body, but especially my forearms are aching!

Are you running a flange adaptor on the turbine inlet or do you have some crazy machined housing?

I will once I get a spare minute away from this thing. Being away from all of my tools sucks. Gotta go buy a Sawzall in the morning and then I'll be good to go.

Manifold is on (only snapped one stud :/) all lines are run except I'm still trying to modify the oil return (it got too late to be making Dremel noises outside), and I still need a few wastegate studs. The ones I got were too short.

I do have at least a picture of the manifold and one of the car to hold you over.

Welp, it's in but not without its problems. Still have to fill with coolant tomorrow, the rear section of the exhaust is bungee corded up near the transmission, the wastegate reference line is plugged because I didn't have the right size hose for it, and... Wait for it...

I forgot to put the gasket between the turbo and the manifold. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH!!!!!!!

I noticed that after it was completely assembled. Not happy about it. I was thinking Oh, I have a vband. No more gaskets to put on, yay! Here's to hoping it still seals. At least enough for me to drive it for a while until I can redo it all over again :(

Yay for long distance drives with open downpipe!

This is gonna be good! Same turbo I've had my sights on for when the time comes.

What are you running for management atm? Just stock?

Also, the wheat field pic is awesome!

For now just stock management. I'll just have to modulate the throttle to control boost for now. Once I get the wastegate hooked back up, it should work just fine on wastegate pressure.

But I have a vems coming as soon as Marc finishes the harness for coils, etc.

Thanks! I've never been around a wheat field before. It sounds so cool when the wind blows.
